When the surgery is closed please dial 111.

Home Visits
Patients may need to ask for a home visit if they are genuinely house bound or too ill to visit the surgery. We ask that you aim to contact us before 11am if possible, unless it is an emergency, to enable the GP to plan their rounds for the day. All home visits will be assessed by the GP who will make telephone contact first to discuss access arrangements and visiting times.

Test Results
If you need to ring the surgery for test or x-ray results ordered by the practice, please ring between 2.00 p.m.- 4.00 p.m. on 01643 703289.

Clinics and Services

IN-HOUSE SERVICES AVAILABLE

chdPractice Clinics
These are held every morning and afternoon. Some  Saturday morning and evening appointments are available for those who wish to come after work . 

Well Person Clinic
An informal clinic offering blood pressure checks and general advice on health.

Cervical Smear Appointments
It is recommended that routine smear tests be carried out on women age 25-49 every 3 years and women aged 50-64 every 5 years. You will be sent a letter from the Health Authority by post telling you when this is due and inviting you to make an appointment for this to be carried out.

Family Planning
All the doctors and practice nurses provide this service in normal surgery time. Repeat prescriptions or follow up appointments can be arranged solely with the Practice Nurse. Emergency (72 hour) contraception is available on request.

pregnantAntenatal Care
We provide a system of shared care with the doctors, midwives and the hospital consultants. Appointments are during normal surgery hours and on Tuesday afternoons with the midwife, who arranges antenatal classes with the health visitor.

Health Checks for the Over 75’s
All patients are welcome to attend for an annual health check. A nurse will visit at home if necessary.

Health Checks for 16-75 year olds
If you have not had a consultation with the surgery or attended a specialist clinic which the surgery has referred you to over a period of three years, you are entitled to ask for an appointment with a GP or Nurse at the surgery. This appointment will be for a health check.

inhalerAsthma Care
We encourage those with asthma, to attend the surgery for an annual review. This is not only to make sure that you are on the most appropriate medication but also to provide support and offer advice on how to best care for the condition as it affects you. This appointment can be with the Practice Nurse.

Diabetes Care
We offer regular appointments so that all diabetics can have reviews and full annual check ups with a nurse, doctor and referral to a dietician when necessary as per the British Diabetic Association recommendations. We work in close association with our local diabetic specialist team at Musgrove Park Hospital.

smoking cessationStopping Smoking
Information on how to stop smoking can be obtained from the surgery. If you require assistance to stop we can refer you to the local NHS service.

ENT
The surgery is equipped with specialist ENT equipment, so that we can examine and treat appropriate eye and ear conditions.

Minor surgery
We carry out a variety of minor operations and injections in our treatment room. We have liquid nitrogen cryotherapy for the removal of minor skin lesions.

Weight Control
Patients will be offered appointments with the practice nurse for advice, support and weight checks.
